While I was sitting in the car waiting for the IR rally to start, I heard a Something for Kate song. and I didn't dislike it. Then I heard a Muse song. and I LIKED it. Then something else spectactular and unprecedented happened. And I forgot it. Oh wait! Augie March. Heard. Liked. What is going on ( Read more... )

I know the SFK song you're talking about! And I don't dislike it either! And I HATE them!

Muse are great. Was it their new song, with all the falsetto? Hold on, all Matthew Bellamy knows is falsetto. Nevermind. Go about your business!

Augie March are so good I want to hug them and kiss them and NOT hug and kiss poisonous snakes.

Have you heard of this Gotye guy? I think he's superb. Dunno if you'd like.. but it's all over Triple J, latest album of the year nom I think...

AND I really like the new Sleepy Jackson stuff...

Music is so weird and likable right now.

Is Gotye the guy who sounds like a cross between Augie March and Thom Yorke? Coz I heard a song I liked and they said it was by someone with a weird name that I immediately forgot, but I reckon it was him. I forget exactly why I liked it, but I liked it. Then I was glad it wasn't some band I'd previously hated. Phew!

The Muse song was a new one, it was all quiet quiet acoustic, and then it was SALSA quiet quiet LOUD ROCK OPERA then a mix of all of them and it was FUN and when it comes out, can I borrow it?

I haven't heard any of the new Sleepy Jackson song, so I will hold out for hate-consistency.

dude. that's hilarious! kind of makes the concept of a 'march' redundant. unfortunately the anti-IR action is very lacklustre here. everyone safe in their 5 hour, flexi time public service jobs. pisses me off.

I felt a little ripped off! My idea of a good rally is being surrounded by noise and people and chanting and loudspeakers and songs that stay on your mind all day. And freezing your arse off and getting tired legs. Not sitting in a comfortably air conditioned car with the radio on. Honk honk, I'm a unionist.

Kevin Andrews makes me very, very angry. I can imagine Canberra not being the greatest union state. If I had a 5 hour flexi-time job, I'd probably get complacent, too. Public servants probably won't take the brunt of the IR bullshit anyway.

Augie March are love. In that way that it took me a while to get into the new album due to louder, brighter and shinier musacks, (and buses not really being the place for listening to new music, ever, as they don't put you in the best of moods.)

they've never been love, for me. They've always just been a step below nothing. Slightly higher than Coldplay, who remain nothing, but still, nothing. Which I guess is odd, because I've always had a side penchant for quiet melodiousness. But yesterday I heard them doing 'Like a Version', where they sang a Brian Wilson song, and I liked both it and their own track that played after. It reminded me of (Asmelia, block your ears) Jeff Buckley with more substance. So perhaps Augie March will become love? Who knows. I may take some convincing.

aww, I don't really see the jeff buckley side to them (I should probably listen to more of his songs than "last goodbye") but I adore Asleep in Perfection and that one song, that I don't remember the name of at the moment - but the album is such a nice chill out album. (and I'm listening to that much music at the moment that an album is being graded on it's 'chill out' factor without any actual recognition of the songs on it. I suck!)

and I don't really like coldplay - my sister's a fan however SO I hear a lot of it.

I'm scraping the musical barrel at the moment. You know, when you're over everything you've been listening to for the last 6 months? So everything I hear now, I pick to pieces. Which is enjoyable, in its way.

Not a fan of Bob Evans, at the moment. Opinion?
