Oh, Great.

After verifying that the computer was working after The Ferocious Microsoft Incident, I spilled ice tea all over it. I know some got in the vents, because I turned it upside down to shake liquid out. Only a little drained out, so maybe it wasn't much, but I have it unplugged and upside down right now. Later, if we have some alcohol, I'll think ( Read more... )

Oh, there was sugar. There was most definitely sugar.

I couldn't quite figure out which screws held the case closed, but I think I will try again tomorrow. I want to find some kind of antistatic cloth first, though, so I can wipe it down with alcohol and let that dry a couple days. This is a mini tower with the MB mounted sideways and a vent on the top, so I'm hoping the liquid mostly went straight down, anyways. Maybe very little splattered on any circuits.

UPDATE: Turns out the heat sink/fan assembly over the CPU might have been in the path of Sugary Death, and the power supply was at the bottom, so there may have been liquid leakage in either of those. I didn't remove either, though. I just wiped off the boards a bit and will let it dry a couple more days. When I turn it back on, I'll back up all the recent work I did as quickly as possible and hope for the best.
