2016?

Hard to believe I started on LJ in 2002 and it's now 2016. Yikes. Where did the years go ( Read more... )

Welcome to 2016 my friend. I hear ya on the weight thing. I like being between 146-148 to have leeway. The holidays have me at 152. So yesterday I walked up and down the hill instead of taking the overgrown golfcart or my quad. I also rode my horse two days in a row as I'm trying to aim for and be ready for a competition in Vegas in early April. Gotta get that 5 lbs back off ( ... )

Parents battle at the dinner table? This is why many people are grateful when the holidays are over! ha!

Not sure if voice over work would pay the bills, but might be fun to try and see how it goes - or IF it goes.

I'd like to think you're right about the gym crowd, but I don't know. I see who they interact with, and there are regulars who are there all the time, but still not really in shape. Maybe they go home and eat bags of Doritos or something. ha! Then there are those who are in shape, but are the muscle guy types. They don't interact with them. They stick to more the athletic build type, and I guess I am closest to that category, where I looked more like I fit more into the Dorito group for the first few months. ha!

That's great about Santa Anita and the second colt! I love that track and it's been so long since I've been there. Would be super fun to meet there sometime and learn from someone who actually knows something about horses. :-) I just love the pageantry of it, but really know nothing.

If you step into Voice Over work, I want to follow you.

(...into Voice Over work, I mean...) :-)

I also have a voice and can read rather well, others compliment me.

(for example, I've been participating in services at church, and received compliments at my reading of Old Testament or Prayers)

If you want to hear my voice, tell me via email and I'll send you a few phone numbers...listen to my 'greeting'. :-)

Maybe you should look into it too! I haven't actually tried reading anything to others, but am just told this by people from general conversations either in person or over the phone. I asked what it is about my voice (besides being deep) and they say it's inflection, intonation and "precise" pronunciation, which I didn't realize was precise - whatever that means. I don't like my voice when I hear it on an answering machine, so I guess I'd need to get over that if I decide to do it. ha!

We really should talk at some point. Do you know what ever happened to Mark or Adrian? I would actually see them out and about sometimes, but totally lost touch when I went up north for a while and never heard from them again.

Mark...hmm...I need more info, was that a chap with whom Adrian was connected at one point...

Adrian was 'last seen' studying and working in Orange County. I've found a LinkedIn account for him (photo confirms it), I've sent him an Invite and given a few email contacts (you have one of my emails, the other is my work address that you could figure out, I think).

Rereading this entry, I noticed your remarks about people, and am reminded of your note in November. In a similar way, it's nice to connect to Beautiful People, but I've recognized that for me, connection to Good Hearts is vitally important. If there's eye candy too, that's an added blessing. :-)

Yes, Mark = fluxfire on LJ and he and Adrian were friends and I believe met through LJ, but not sure about that. Mark was one of the first people on my friends list (Adrian later, who found me through Mark) and I think Mark was about 18 or 19 at the time, worked at a library in the Valley and wanted to become a writer. Sound familiar ( ... )

Maaaaaybe they were just waiting to see if you were serious about coming to the gym?

It could be that your brother, with your parents' health problems, is feeling a need to connect. I'm hoping that he's changed into a better person. It would be a bad thing to have to face him for the first time again over a will with all the squabbling that can happen in dysfunctional families.

I'm the type of person who when someone drives by me too fast like to think that they've an emergency child sick at home and they have to be there ASAP.

Jump on the voice-over work. It could be a foot-in-the-door to audible books.

Happy New Year *HUGS*

About the gym, could be? I thought about that and would prefer to think you're right, but see my reply above on the same subject ( ... )

Then: If he did get ahold of them you know that he'd be hitting you up for money for their needs.

I think it's wise you and your folks don't interact with him then and perhaps you should talk to your parents about having you legally be made their conservator to forestall him trying for it.

My parents will always talk to him if he calls (he's still their child), and he can still suck them into thinking maybe he's changed, despite the history. And they are kind of beyond the point where I can talk to them about things like this and have them remember the conversation a week or even a couple of days later in some cases on some important things.

They have money and a house that's paid off and worth quite a bit in one of the most expensive areas of the country outside maybe areas of NYC, so he wouldn't need to hit me up for money IF he had control of their finances, but that's what I'm afraid he may be after. There's also a trust in place that they've left me in control of administering when they pass. I just need to make sure he doesn't doing anything shady trying to take control. If he had equal or co-control, he'd make my life miserable.
