bats

I just discovered a new urban pond (Hall's Pond, Brookline, and how come I've never noticed it before?) and am enjoying the local wildlife.  The bat population is pretty excited about spring, so tonight I tried to get some good shots, some with flash, some without, and some in "burst" mode.  They're tough to catch, zigzagging as they do, and I ( Read more... )

Coolness! Great to see the bats out, and that first pic is fun. So close! I don't think I've ever been close enough to grab a shot of the bats we had in Michigan.

Man alive I love bats. We have heaps of them where I am, great whopping fruit bats, and I can never get a frikkin photo of them. Many, many kudos for getting any shot let alone the nice ones you managed.

yeah! I don't recall you or urbpan ever mentioning it, and now that I think about it, that's probably because dogs aren't allowed. But I've been biking past it for years, and I finally just noticed it. The bird life is pretty fantastic -- maybe better than Ward's, maybe because it's so protected. I love these little urban jewels!

yeah, the no dogs allowed aspect is pretty sad. i used to go there a lot back in the 80s.
