I don't really know what to say? There were some things that I loved, and there were some things that were seriously problematic.
Yeah that's kind of how I feel. I tried to write a reaction to it and was just all "or something, idk. I just don't know." I think I need to sit on it too, and maybe I'll try and re-evaluate later. My favourite expression tongiht once more: idk.
I know it sounds bizarre, but in my traumatised/teary-eyed state, all I could think when she was walking away from her burning-down house was "But what about all her clothes? She needs clothes." :-/ Also, bye-bye porch-scenes *creys*. Seriously though, I absolutely loved how Damon got down on the floor with her to comfort her. GUH. So sad.
She does have some of her things at the Boarding House though? She brought them in 4x07, packed a bag and everything, and I don't imagine she had time or energy to bring all the things back home afterwards.
I don't usually analyse anything about this show, so I won't comment on the plot (except one thing: why did they need to "cover up" Jeremy's death if half the town including the Mayor and the sheriff knows that vampires exist?), but the acting seriously impressed me. Elena's breakdown was so heartwrenching. Incredible performance. And Matt too. T_T
There were some things that I loved, and there were some things that were seriously problematic. But, to be completely honest with you, I don't have the energy to get mad about the problematic writing. Everyone's performance was so damn good I just want to sit back and shallowly enjoy.
Yeah, same. The acting in this ep was phenomenal, and I just want to enjoy that for a bit. I'm also kind of waiting to see how it plays out before getting ragey? It's too exhausting being outraged all the time.
You're right, the rage is exhausting. You can only be mad for so long. And there was something seriously interesting about the "invoking the sire bond" scene. I'd probably be ragey if she decided not to burn the house after she "turned it off". But she still burned down the house. For some reason, it just seems so incredibly significant.
