I love Elena as a vampire and I love the idea that she can be free from her doppelganger curse, but I'm very wary of the whole vampirism cure arc that seems to be going on on the show. I don't want Elena cured! (Or any of them.) I'm pretty sure she's strong enough to learn to control her urges. Curing her would cheapen it somehow. She's got enough strength and enough self-control to live with it. She's going through tough times now but it's because it's new. I believe that she will learn to handle it eventually. Besides, I kind of hate the cure device in any vampire/werewolf/whatever supernatural thing-centric story. I don't buy it somehow.

I think this "cure" thing is a hoax to be honest. Vampire hunters who have to keep killing vampires until mysterious tattoos on their abs show them a map to a vampire cure? That doesn't make sense. I think "the cure" is actually some uber weapon. Or, as someone pointed out on tumblr, the cure does turn vampires into humans... only all vampires died as humans, so it turns them into what they were: dead humans.

I'm going to posit that this is still an AU-scenario (for now) because THIS::: " But vampirism meant she wouldn't be victimized any more. Vampirism meant freedom: both from the curse of being the doppelganger and from the damned Good Girl role she was playing as a human." hasn't happened yet.

Sadly, not yet :(. But give it time! I'm determined to believe in Elena's arc :).

Her blood isn't magical, the bad guys can't want anything more from her.

This is one of the appealing things about vampire Elena for me as well, although right now it doesn't look as though the show is going in that direction.

I think there's a good chance it will, but I also think it'll be used as a plot device for the next few episodes to keep Klaus interested in Elena's welfare.
