Elena Gilbert Appreciation Week, Day Three (Nov. 7) - create an AU setting for her
I'm fashionably late for Day Three (due to very important porn writing that had to happen yesterday, I'm sure you understand), and, what's even worse, I'm gonna totally fail at Day Three. I blame the show tbh, because they made my favorite AU setting for Elena canon.
I'm human.

I started reading the hell out of vamp!Elena stories at some point in s2. I mean, just think about it. Elena the predator, Elena the vampire, how awesome is that? I wanted her to have the superpowers, I wanted her to struggle with bloodlust, I wanted her to prove to everyone that, as a vampire, she wouldn't be a copy of Katherine.
But the best thing about vampire Elena? She's not the doppelganger any more. Her blood isn't magical, the bad guys can't want anything more from her. She doesn't need to be saved. She can be a part of the Problem-Solving Squad instead of the eternal hostage and potential damsel in distress. Don't get me wrong, I totally admired Elena's strength as a human, her quick thinking and general badassery. But vampirism meant she wouldn't be victimized any more. Vampirism meant freedom: both from the curse of being the doppelganger and from the damned Good Girl role she was playing as a human.
I'm still hoping it will also mean freedom on the show.
