You can thank all the crack-baby druggies who like to take and or manufacture meth. That's what the lockdown on Sudephed-like stuff is supposed to help stop, since that's one of the chemical ingredients for the drug.

Not that making innocent people fork up all that info is helping anything. The druggies just find other ways to get it, or use something else. Sometimes I think the world is just fucked. :P

It has been that way for some time now. You ever want to do something fun, try going into a Walgreens and buying one bottle of DayQuil and one bottle of NyQuil at the same time. The last time I was seriously unwell, resulting in several days off of work, I ran out of these two things to stock up, fully prepared to deal with the paperwork, and they wouldn't let me buy one bottle of each at the same time. Too proud for my own good and too damn tired to make several trips to a drugstore to get two bottles of OTC medicine, I told them to shove it and I left them with none of my money.

The hoops we make unwell people jump through in order to wage a futile war on drugs. It reminds me vaguely of the rather unrelated joke I heard once, about how we make ill people walk all the way to the back of the drugstore while perfectly healthy people can buy cigarettes right at the front counter, minimal effort involved.
