Big Brother is alive and well...

Ft. Myers, FL - Allergy season is upon us. That combined with the never-to-be-sufficiently-damned odor masking chemical the house keeping staff insists on spraying in liberal quantities on the hotel carpets is packing my sinuses.

In order to reduce the agony, I went to the local CVS to buy the generic equivalent of Clariton D. On the shelf was not the product I expected, but a laminated card with a picture of the box of what I wanted. Printed across the top of the card in bold letters were the words, "Take one card to front cash register."

So with some curiosity, I presented my card to cashier. I didn't do that much paper work the last time I bought a gun. I had to provide my home address, phone number, and total quantity of pseudoephedrine contained in the package. Just to make sure I was on the up and up, the clerk dutifully verified all that wrote with me I driver's license.

So now, along with several hundred other CVS customers from that store, enshrined for all posterity in an official federal log book is a record of the fact that on March 14th, at or about 10:30 a.m. I bought a 15 pack of the CVS generic brand loratadine and pseudoephedrine tablets.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with this scenario?

Big Brother is watching you.
