Very nice character study! Whenever I read good stories about Karofsky, I get this weird mix of sympathy and disgust, and I feel like I'm picking up on the way he feels about himself with the latter. I really loved your characterization of his mother -- I'm sad to say, as a Christian, that I have run into people with that same perspective, though thankfully I have not had to deal with someone as outspoken as you made his mother to be. (One of my favorite parts in this story was definitely Kurt telling her off, though.)

And I like how you have Karofsky honestly liking Kurt, as opposed to just targeting him because he's the only out boy at the school. Granted, Kurt being open was what attracted him in the first place, but you definitely show how Karofsky is crushing on Kurt something fierce and that adds to the pain of the whole ordeal -- especially once Blaine shows up and Karofsky's anger gets jealousy added to it. I also liked how Karofsky's "redemption" of sorts had nothing to do with being gay, but rather with the conflict being ( ... )

I've always thought that Karfosky likes Kurt because he's, y'know, Kurt. I think it was the dive in for the second kiss that made me think that. He just seemed really desperate to kiss Kurt, and while I suppose it could've just been the lust for another out boy, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Karofsky just likes Kurt ( ... )

I really like this character study. It's very well done and written so well! I really felt for Dave, who I happen to loathe yet also feel sorry for.
I think your Kurt is a bit too nice to him at end, well for his character, but I guess we don't really know HOW Kurt will react to him once he's back at McKinley.
I really hope the show does justice to this storyline and Karofsky's redemption or even just half as well as you.

I suppose Kurt's acceptance would've made more sense if I'd written it in Kurt's POV ( ... )

I actually have zero knowledge of Glee, but wound up here anyways. And I loved this story! Really interesting character study, especially knowing so little about the characters other than the few clips that I've seen. Thank you for the hard work you put into this! It felt very real. :) You have a lovely writing style, and your use of italics for thoughts was very effective.

(Also, random fact! David's mum actually had the correct usage of 'Muslim', if in an incredibly offensive sentence. In my experience, you would use 'Mulsim' when describing a person, versus 'Islamic' when discussing the faith in general. Ex: "My friend Hanan is Muslim, and she's been showing me some really neat things. Did you know that there is some really beautiful Islamic poetry from the fourteenth century?" Or at least this is how my Middle Eastern Studies professor uses the terms! I am fallible, and thus can always be incorrect. :D)

This is amazing. I think it's even more incredible that you dislike the character because you wrote him so sympathetically and a lot like I see him actually being. (Glee has a tiny problem with only giving you two dimensional characters so I usually fill in the blanks myself with them.)
