Title: Hope for the Hopeless
Fandom: Glee
Rating: T
Pairings:  None really, but there is some implied Karofsky/Kurt and Blaine/Kurt
Disclaimer: If I owned Glee, it'd make a lot more sense.
Summary: David Karofsky hated Kurt Hummel. Or, at least, he thought he did. Character study, spoilers for season two.

Still. If his eyes sometimes followed Hummel in the hallway, there was no one to know but himself. )

status: oneshot, character: david karofsky, status: complete, character: kurt hummel, fanfic: hope for the hopeless, fandom: glee, genre: character study, rating: t

I suppose Kurt's acceptance would've made more sense if I'd written it in Kurt's POV.

What I was thinking is that as soon as Kurt "meets" Karofsky's mom, he understands why Karofsky is the way he is. He doesn't really like him for it, but he gets that Karofsky's hatred doesn't just spring from his own personal well of assholeness.

But I think the line that would've gotten to Kurt would be the "Sometimes I kinda hate myself" one. He gets that. Not now - I feel like season two!Kurt is definitely more confident. But he knows what it's like to hate yourself or be ashamed of who you are. So that softens him to Karofsky quite a bit. And then Karofsky goes and punches a guy in the face for insulting the dead mother that Kurt (in my head canon) adores, so that also helps.

I personally think that Kurt will probably be harsher towards Karofsky in the show. I wouldn't mind that - I kind of want Karofsky to work for it. But I wanted this story to have a ray of light at the end (a bit of hope in the hopelessness, if you will (tiredness makes me make really bad puns, sorry)) so Kurt's forgiveness was kind of crucial.

I really do hope they handle the Karofsky storyline well in the show. It has so much potential.

Thanks for the comment! (Sorry I rambled on and on about everything~)
