Notes - first time I've ever written second person... I hope it worked!
One day, you will wonder how it happened, how the most important relationship in your life turned from friendship to love.
Those all too precious, all too fleeting years were the best years of your life and you’ll look back and wish that you had taken the time to savour them. But, you were always too busy, always too determined to be everything to everyone to really appreciate the simplicity of what you had.
You loved, of course, and you knew that you were happy but you never merely allowed yourself to become lost in those little moments you had together. Your heart may have been focused on the man in your arms, but your mind was always racing with thoughts of the next album, the next tour, the next project…
You will come to regret that.
It was that drive and ambition that had drawn him to you all of those years ago when love was far from both of your thoughts and it was that same drive and ambition that tore you apart.
One day, you will wonder how it happened, how the most important relationship in your life turned from love to work colleagues.
You’ll still love him. That kind of love never dies or disappears but it isn’t blind either and he will tire of having to make appointments just to see you. He will tire of your only conversations revolving around rehearsal schedules and recording. He will tire of falling asleep alone, and waking to an empty bed.
One day, you will lose him and you will know that it was no-ones fault but your own.
