Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and assorted sequels!) by Douglas Adams
Geek Love by Katharine Dunn (so disturbing but so amazing - I could never reread it though)

Robin Hobb's Farseer series (the third book of the first trilogy is probably my most read book, as it means a lot to me)

Stephen Lawhead's Song of Albion series borrow heavily from Celtic mythology and religion and is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

Joyce's Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is one of those books you practically have to read if you haven't already.
