Prop 8 really disgusts me too and especially when people's arguments for it are religiously based. Or when they say that gay marriage equals bestiality. That one really pisses me off because two guys marrying automatically leads to man marrying dog. Riiight.
If offends me because this is exactly the same shit that was used against Blacks marrying Whites back in the 60s and even way before that: the whole its against God's law and bullshit, bullshit. People need to understand that this is about civil rights. I just hope that 20 years from now people are gonna look back and think about how truly retarded and stupid people were to actually be against gay marriage. Honestly now...
But if anything Phae, just do what I do: Take those stupid law signs and posters off wherever you seem em and throw em in trash where they belong. I did that to like four houses on my block and now it is hate free... or at least I like to think so anyways.
I applaud your courage. I've thought about pulling down the signs on this corner that's littered with them (somebody else did at one point there was a cop car on the corner sitting there while the owner of the property was putting the signs back up), but can't bring myself to do it. Of course this may in part be because I saw the supporters of prop 8 literally on that corner waving their signs and dancing about. They definitely got my attention but then I vomited a little in my mouth.
The bestiality one is new on me. I'm not surprised to hear it has gone in such a direction of labeling people as animals.
Something else that I find interesting is that
religious freedom = the right to persecute others
I just thought about it. That's a medieval thought process that led to the crusades, witch hunts, Nazi actions, skin head cross burnings, and many other parts of history where individuals and whole groups were persecuted for being different.
I'm sad and i really don't want Massachusetts to be left alone.
