Neat! Short and sweet, like a one-two punch. I love looking in on Ray's thoughts just before he falls hard for Fraser. And we know he's soon to be kayoed. :)

That was... amazing. The whole story had a rhythm. A beat. A flow. I could hear it in my head.

One two.

Bam bam.

I can hear it in my head. Wow. Wow. Wow. And it's sharp and powerful and to the point.

I absolutely adore the way you've turned the beat into... milestones in Ray's life. One... when he's on his own, only he's not, never was, because how can you dance to a beat of one? And then two with him and Stella, and three, only not three and then back to two, back to one, and now... two. Only not yet. Not quite. But unmistakable. Fan-bloody-tastic!

I could probably quote the whole thing, but if I had to pick a line that really stood out for me, it was this line:

And how the hell can you be number two if there's no number one, huh?

That just sums it up. Ray's life. The sidekick with no hero. (Not that he is, mind you, but...) And then here, this line:

So maybe he'd been back to Ray until he'd started noticing how Fraser smiled, and the way he licked his lip when he was nervous. Until he started noticing the beat. And he ( ... )

...bloody hell, that was some fantastic feedback, thank you! More of my writing - well, this journal has everything fandomwise I've done. Mostly Good Omens and Harry Potter, but a couple of recent Due South things - look for the Due South tag on the menu down the side. I think I'm probably going to be moving more into this fandom, I really do love Ray's mental voice.

Again, thanks so much for the lovely feedback, it really made my day.
