I think its funny. I am going to see wicked April 14 (eeeee!!!) and I am almost 3/4 through the book. I just read a review of the book saying "don't read it right before you go see the play, because they are SO VERY VERY different that it will ruin one or the other or both for you ( Read more... )

I always prefer reading the book first because I figure the book has to be good for people to go and want to make a movie out of it. So I read the book. I mean, that is, if I know there is a book and a movie. A lot of times I will go see a movie and then want to read the book.

Actually, now that I pause to think about it - I like watching the movie first because then if the movie just sucks because it's a bad movie, then it's just a bad movie, right? But I don't want it to suck because I read the book first and liked it better.

No, really what it boils down to is that I can appreciate both if they are good. Because, yes, Harry Potter has taught me that as well.

And no - please. I can't handle the Harry Potter Musical concept. It's almost as bad as the Lord of the Rings one they are performing now in Australia. Or the version of Pride and Prejudice I saw the beginning of and cried because they were singing.

Some things just should not be made musical.
