Patrick is afraid that the notes, the melodies that he's given Pete, can't ever adequately express what this feels like. !!!!! Oh Patrick.

There's just something so honest about this. I can tell they're completely taken with one another, in love and yet still feeling out so many parts of their relationship. There's a great mix of first time nerves and familiarity here that really works for me.

The bit about the blanket fort got me where it counts, mostly because of this line: Patrick knows enough not to ask why, but, "How?"

Because, yeah, that seems like the sort of thing that could be so, so true.

Oh wow, this is just fabulous. I love how overwhelmed Patrick is even as he's so confident of his feelings for Pete. And that last conversation is perfect.

this was awesomely, perfectly, pete and patrick. (and he picks his nose, seriously, god pete.)

this is the part that i cannot stop fixating on:

This is them in bed, alone in Pete's house, and they're going to fuck. The enormity of the situation is not lost on Patrick.

"Let's--" Pete breaks off and pushes Patrick away enough to catch his breath. "Do you want to make a bed fort?" Pete's voice sounds strained.

because of course! if you build a bed fort, it's less scary to finally admit how much you're in love with your best friend.

and i love love love this:

"Shut up," he says, pushing Pete down and kissing him breathless. "Shut up," Patrick spits out between kisses, "You are the most fucking self-destructive person I've ever met, so shut the fuck up now unless you mean it."

it's one of those moments where it's great to see patrick being and getting angry and stubborn, because it's just what they need to get through.
