Looking for a game

Dec 01, 2008 01:30

The Internet almost always has what you're looking for. The problem is finding it. For the last week, I've felt like I should track down some good Paper Mario fanfiction. Then I realized that it'd take longer to find something good than it would to read it even if I knew where to look. I need recommendations, because otherwise I'll feel obliged ( Read more... )

paper mario, mmorpg

City of Heroes/City of Villains is a great game, though it's easier to find a group to work with on the hero side.

Ragnarok Online is pretty good, if you don't feel the need to guild. Up til yesterday, I would have suggested LOTRO (the kin we were in just kicked hubby out. I left after this. He's taking it better than I am).

If you love PVP, you could try SWG. They just opened Hoth a couple of weeks ago.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck finding a new 'home'.

Honestly, I'm not much for PvP. Tried it once. Spent my time avoiding griefers who spent a lot more time playing than I did. Wasn't fun. I played ROSE Online briefly, but haven't tried Ragnarok Online itself.

I hear that about the griefers. And now that things have settled down, I can suggest LOTRO, which relegates PVP to the Ettenmoors...duels are by consent anywhere of course. Lots of quests, and deeds (which is grinding for traits and titles), btw. Also, if you are into Tolkin, this might be a game for you..did I mention you have hobbits as one of the character races? Also crafting and classes..

As for RO, they don't seem to have duels, just games of storm the keep on select nights for their PVP, and again in certain areas. Quests they have, but it tends to be get this, fetch that and they really need a quest journal (which LOTRO does have)No races, just classes and professions. No real crafting, or I have yet to stumble across it. Think Final Battle Online....they even have a newbie island area...and funny hats.

And what is there not to like about playing a homicidal Precious Moments figurine? (the notion alone is funny to me, then I have a warped sense of humor...)

"Sociability? Not really. I'm not really into guilds or such. I play odd, irregular hours. I'd rather not have a group of three people who expect me to be on from two to four-thirty every day. If I'm playing a game where I'm supposed to be part of a group, I want to be able to easily find a pickup group, and I prefer quiet, competent people to interesting ones. I realize this is more to do with the players than the game, but that's such as it is ( ... )
