Looking for a game

The Internet almost always has what you're looking for. The problem is finding it. For the last week, I've felt like I should track down some good Paper Mario fanfiction. Then I realized that it'd take longer to find something good than it would to read it even if I knew where to look. I need recommendations, because otherwise I'll feel obliged ( Read more... )

"Sociability? Not really. I'm not really into guilds or such. I play odd, irregular hours. I'd rather not have a group of three people who expect me to be on from two to four-thirty every day. If I'm playing a game where I'm supposed to be part of a group, I want to be able to easily find a pickup group, and I prefer quiet, competent people to interesting ones. I realize this is more to do with the players than the game, but that's such as it is."

I've found that most of the social Linkshells I join in FFXI don't expect people to be on at any particular time, save after that person has happened to show up at some particular time regularly enough that it's a clear pattern. This is in part because of the international nature of FFXI - the same 30 servers host players from America, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, Russia, and anywhere else someone has imported a copy of FFXI. (The major populations are US/Canada, Japan, and England/France/Germany/Spain, with Australia coming in a notable if anomalous fourth.) Most endgame groups have a regular time commitment expectation, but they're pretty optional, so I wouldn't worry about it.

In particular, I've found that the WeSH linkshell is populated 24/7. (For more on WeSH, check out http://lvlup.tsunami-art.com/ )
