[In many ways the Marketplace still amazed Morrigan, even the largest market she had been in paled in comparison to it. Often she found herself almost overwhelmed by the sights and sounds around her. Still, she greatly enjoyed coming and spending time in the market. Today, she was going through the vegetables, trying to figure out what some of the strange looking things were exactly.

She found herself distracted by Mal and his haggling though and looked up at him, raising an eyebrow.]

Does the arguing help you?

[Mal raises his eyebrow in a mockery of her expression and holds up a pepper.] If nothing else, it's entertaining.

[She tilts her head and goes back to inspecting some sort of strange broccoli like vegetable.]

I fail to see how such a thing is entertaining.

[... Well, aren't you a stick in the mud?] You're not much of a people person, are you?

[To say that Thomas was starting to get paranoid was an understatement. In the past four days, nothing violent, strange, or utterly impossible had happened to anyone and he figured it was probably about time for something to happen.

That didn't stop him from needing food, though. He always hated looking for food in this place. There were coconuts, bananas, meat, dairy, eggs, fish, and anything else you could think of...and a few things that looked so weird he stayed away from them for the most part. But, no matter how often he looked, he was never able to find the essentials: pre-cooked bacon, TV dinners, or hot pockets. It was a shame.

But, shame or not, he was hungry and his cupboards were empty, and that meant it was shopping time.

And he couldn't help but say something to the guy arguing with the vender at this stall.]

It's a lime, not a condo.

[It took Mal a moment to figure out that the guy was commenting about his haggling; he was just a tad engrossed in arguing. He looks at the lime in his hand and back at the vendor, the lime, and then the man standing there.]

Well. Yeah. [He holds it up, addressing the vendor more than the newcomer.] And it's a lime not gonna last much longer out here. It's in his best interest to sell the gorram thing 'fore it goes to rot.

[His eyes narrowed slightly at the lime, then he looked to the vender, then back to the fruit, then heaved a sigh.]

Empty night, man. How much does he want for it?

[Mal turns the lime in his hand and then gestures with it.] 'Nough for a grove of these gorram things. Don't get much in the way of fresh fruit up in the black, but hell if I'm paying that much for it where it's grown.

[It's nice to get out of the library, sometimes. As interesting as it is, her ADD can only take so much sitting and reading, so today she wanders her way into the market, not really looking for anything in particular. It was still more than a little disorienting, with everything that she thought she had known about the Underworld, that it was even here, but it was nice to actually do things like, oh, eat, without worrying about getting stuck.

How convenient that she happens to stumble across someone she almost-knows.]

...Captain?

[Winding through a crowd ain't no matter for someone accustomed to getting to where he's going without a pause. He stills at the hail and then half-turns to face Annabeth.]

Annabeth Chase. Been a bit.

[Not that he didn't already know this, but--]

Yeah. It's been...crazy lately.

[Let's just not mention the part where she was "married" for two days. That's still a little awkward.]

I hope you managed to avoid it, anyway.

What I didn't avoid wasn't that bad. [He shrugs.] You managing it all right?
