I'd love to get one of those roomba thingies. Unfortunately, almost every room of our house has a step in between. I doubt it would be able to do its job very effectively. Do you like it?
I do not like the roomba. My room-mate loves it, but I believe it is self-deception based on how much the damn thing cost. If you lived in a big, spacious modern house with continuous wall to wall carpet and furniture that the roomba could just cruise under, it might be worth it. But it only holds about a cup of dirt at a time and I think that by the time you have emptied it 4 times and unstuck it from under the couch 3 times and then had to go hunt for it under some piece of furniture when it ran out of charge, it's actually faster to vacuum manually. And it also gets goofy as it's sensors age and needs software patches to keep working. And it has a tendency to roll up little dust bunnies of lint and leave them around the borders of any height change in the flooring, ie if you have an oriental rug.
