Franziska was, by some miracle, actually in her room. She was in the process of transcribing and translating her notes to post on the forum, having not checked it herself to notice that it was, indeed, Valentine's Day. Although if she had bothered to check, odds are she would have dismissed it was "foolishness" in the wake of all the serious crimes going on and ignored it. And attitude that came from too many Valentine's Days spent alone and working. Until this one, that is.

When she heard the knock at her door, Franziska immediately pushed her notes aside and got up, opening it. "Sasagawa Ryohei!" she said, sounding genuinely surprised. Was he seeing if she had eaten again? Truthfully, she hadn't yet today. "This is...surprising. You usually ask for me on the forum before coming here..." It suddenly occurred to her that maybe he had, and come to check on her when she didn't respond. Her cheeks colored a little bit at that thought.

He smiled guiltly and nodded. "I know, I usually do to the extreme... I have to admit that I forgot to. Sorry." He shifted slightly and produced the card out of his jacket.

"But today is St Valentine's day, and wanted to ask you if you could free yourself for a some time..." This was quite unconfortable. It was not that it was the first time that he asked a woman out, but it was the first time that he asked someone out whom he had known for this long and who had become... this close. Plus, normally he would have made the usual arrangements, a nice restaurant, flowers, a nice present. Usually, it was not St Valentine's.

"I guess you have not eaten yet? I have prepeared something, if you'd like to accompany me there?" ... And he hoped that this didn't sound too unconfident.

To say that Franziska was surprised would be an understatement: for a moment, she just stood in her doorway, speechless. Of course, she'd been asked out before. But there had never been time in her life for serious dating. Not when she didn't have an ulterior motive, anyway. When he offered her the card, she took it between gloved fingers, examining it for a long moment.

"I would...I would be honored to accompany you," Franziska stammered out at last. How undignified a response. So low-class, so...imperfect. But honestly, words were failing her right now, and her heart had suddenly started pounding in her chest...was she actually nervous? This was Ryohei. She spent time with him all the time. She'd known they had some sort of relationship going on here. Just...never actually formalized in this manner.

He let escape a little sigh of relief. Good. First step taken, and it had gone surprisingly well. Next...

"I'm very glad to the extreme." His smile was, although still a little bit worried, genuine and very bright. "Do you need some time to finish things and get ready? I can wait outside to the extreme." After all he had not asked her before coming, she had been taken by surprise, which was quite rude of him.

He did notice that she was nervous, but he was way too nervous himself to think about it too much. He had not thinking about anything but this for a couple of hours, ever since he had heard that it was Valentine's day. And now he couldn't really concentrate because there was just too much in his head - he was more excited than he had been for a very long time... Which made him use the phrase "extreme" even more often than normal.

Franziska paused to consider the question. Did she have to prepare at all? Did she have anything to prepare with? She had no clothes with her that were any nicer than her work clothes, what she usually wore. She'd long since given away her Christmas ball gown, being certain the thing was somehow trapped or cursed, although in hindsight she should have kept it: it was, after all, what she'd been wearing the first night she and Ryohei met.

No, she was dressed as nice as she would ever be, she had her gloves on, her earrings in, her minimal make-up already applied. She shook her head. "Just...let me take my notes with me, so the nurses don't foolishly throw them away in the trash like the fools they are," Franziska said, darting back into her room momentarily to gather her notepad and a few other loose sheets of paper. She wasn't planning to work through their date, of course. Just make sure her work didn't get lost.

One she had it all gathered, she stepped out into the hall, closing her door behind her. "I'm ready," she said with a
