On the Fence, All the Time

I may have eaten three (!) vanilla cupcakes yesterday and I was feeling guilty but you know what, it's been one of those weeks and I'm going to the gym today anyway...(at least that's what I tell myself).  Also I've started watching Breaking Bad---I have thoughts---they just aren't coherent yet ( Read more... )

recs: lotr, food for thought, contemplation

...did Eomer and Haldir actually speak to each other in the movie?? *g* Is this like Inception fandom, where from the fic I thought Eames and Arthur were the main characters, and then I saw the movie and they spoke like five sentence to each other?? I just need to know before I dive in. :D

Um *looks around sheepishly* they didn't speak to each other in the movie, at least that I can remember. I only found this fic because of a rec on tumblr from a writer whose work I really enjoy. But it's really good---and I think you might enjoy it? Though I looked for other fics with this pairing and didn't have much luck. But there is probably more Eomer/Haldir fic out there but since this was way before AO3 most of it's on one of the old LOTR archives?

Haldir has about 5 lines to say in the book AND in the movie. Movie!Haldir has a bigger role though. He's basically like an OMC because we know almost nothing about him. That means he works great as the second half of a pairing because you can shape him like you want:)

Thanks for the rec. I've basically a half written story (which probably will never be finished) with the same trope on my harddrive but with Haldir/Faramir because they're my OTP and I love them to death. Unfortunately there only are a hand full of stories with them and nothing new in the last couple of month:(

So Haldir/Éomer has to do... :)

Although films about comic heroes are my weakness and I tend to watch them all I probably won't see CA 2. The first movie was one of the most boring movies I've ever seen and it was a real struggle for me to keep watching until the end. But I'm a fan of the series S.H.I.E.L.D and also saw the Avenger movies. So it would be good to know the bullet points for the Avenger-verse from CA 2. Do you think you could summarize them for me? That would be great.

So I felt the same about the first Cap movie----but the second one was great. Like there was a lot of action and intensity, but also some great character developments and nods to the comic canon while being it's own thing. Actually, I think outside of the Avengers film, this might be one of the better sequels.

I think it helps that finally I could see Chris Evans as Captain America. And I really enjoyed the foil that the Black Widow is when next to him. Also Anthony Mackie as Falcon was fun and I think having Nick Fury in this movie also added some humor?

[Spoiler (click to open)]But pretty much if you're aware of the comic canon---Bucky's been brainwashed by Hydra/the Soviets. Hydra has infiltrated SHIELD and the Winter Soldier is out to kill Steve. I don't know if I should say anymore, because I think you might change your opinion once you've seen the film?

Hm... maybe I will watch CA 2 then. I loved the last episode of SHIELD and because I had not really a clue about the CA-story I was surprised. Made the episode even better.
Thanks for the spoilers;)

No problem :) (and because I needed to flail some more, I posted a pseudo-reaction post just now)

Yes, exactly! Because technology and platforms change all the time. (Though to be fair FFN is still chugging along so you never know).

Ahhh---I have all the Winter Soldier feels. All of them.
