While I'm sitting here waiting to get the domain name shit figured out (3rd call to hosting service-at least this time I got someone who understands; or, it could be that I'm just making more sense in explaining the problem...after all, I've had lots of practice), I might as well start my "Houses of the Holy" recap.

Hey Ruth,

I saw your comment in my e-mail, but when I went to reply, saw you'd deleted it. I hope you don't think I thought the episode was a mockery of faith. Absolutely not!

The trouble with (me) writing about something as personal as religion is that I don't always express myself the way I want.

I hope I didn't offend you. If I did, I'm really sorry. :(

No, I'm sorry - I re-read what I wrote and realized I was over-reacting.

I think the show does a good job at raising some of the complexities of religion and faith--like gently turning soil--without putting any commentary on it. They give us a perspective, and we understand why the person has that perspective, but there's no cause for judgment, either from one character to another or...well, I was going to say from the viewers to the characters, but that would be naive. :)

I loved this episode for two things: Dean's heartbreaking revelation about his mother's last words to him, and the car chase really looking like it's going through a New England town just like the one I grew up in. :)

I just found this comment! (Bad Gail!) I like your points. Ah, New England. Such a beautiful, quiet place (except for the Boston drivers).

Well, it's not just Boston. I-95 from New York all the way up the Northeastern Corridor has very heavy traffic, and therefore a lot of crazy drivers. My husband complains, and I get defensive. :) There are just as crazy drivers down here in PA, but the population is higher in that area of New England.
