PREPARE FOR TL;DR!

augh, I'm so bad at this but I'll give it a shot!
I've been around for about eight months now I think and I think it's a testimony to the game when you consider that this is the longest I've been in one place for years, and since RPing on LJ (what can I say, I'm kind of a flake!) the people are just about the nicest, most cooperative group I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. for awful, slow taggers like me, the amount of backlogging that everyone is willing to do is just so nice.
applications run from easy-medium now I think, but mods have switched it to e-mail apps so you can't tell which needed revisions, etc. app cycles recently got changed to a monthly app cycle, and you're likely to be dropped in with 10+ other characters each round. the transition from a smallish game to a fairly bustling game has hit some of the older players hard, but they're slowly adjusting. applications close during large events so as to not cause all-around confusion so if you're planning to app, I'd make it this cycle before July 15th.

Thanks for answering! I just have a few smaller questions:
* The character I'm considering joining with is a floating, spherical robot that's about the size of a beach ball. Is that allowed? * In practice, how easy is it to set up a meister/weapon couple (between characters of different fandoms, in particular)? * Soul Eater is one of the manga/anime series that I'm interested in but has been pushed to the bottom of the reading list due to my personal procrastination. Are there any spoilers to the plot of the series in the setting of the game?

How's the pace been for this game? I've been told it's medium-slow, but it just seems to...grow a lot everyday. And I play in two other games sooo I'd really like to know if it'd be all right to app here if I regulate myself.

The game usually gets between two to five posts a day unless we're in the middle of an event/new characters are introducing themselves, so I'd say it tends more between medium-fast. Most players are totally fine with backtagging, so if you want to take a week to finish a thread it's no issue. Gargle is extremely manageable. The activity check is every month; you can either make two posts to the network, one post and one log, or one post and one thread where your character made 20 comments. That last one can also be two threads where your character made ten comments-- two or three threads to reach 20 comments a month is fine. More than that and it starts being a bit ridiculous though. :P
Overall I think you should be fine if you regulate yourself-- a lot of the players are in two or three games including this one. Uhm, hope that helped! o/

How easy is CR to get? I mean, I know we're often told to tag around first but in general, how welcome to the idea of CR with a newbie/unknown chara are the players?

ACTIVITY: Slow but active
APPLICATIONS: Easy-to-Medium-difficulty. Allows for links in the History section and the Samples are quite flexible. You have to pick two from these five: IC questionaire, prose sample, bracket/commentspam sample, thread link or a trial with one of the NPCs. Quality control is consistent. Apps take 1-3 days to be judged.
Also! Be sure to do a good job on the personality section as it's easily the part that seems to carry the most weight.
MODDING: Anonymous mods. However, don't let that deter you. They are very professional, answer questions promptly and are really easy to talk to. Apparently this number will be going up soon, but I have every faith that any new mods will be just as great.
PLOTS/CR: A game-wide plot with player plots popping up here and there. Mods NPC a lot in their plot posts, which is really fun. CR is not hard to get but won't come to you.
PREMISE/SETTING: FF8's Balamb Garden, where characters are brought forth thanks to the effects of Time Compression. The mercenary school setting

Application wise, trial thread with the NPCs is gone. Apps do also take a little longer to be judged these days, I think the mods want to do them in bulk.
I personally find CR a little harder to get, mainly because some characters do seem to drop tags or take over a day before they get back to you. It may be because it's summer and LJ notifs have been a bit off though.
The game is easy to get into though, other than location wise, you can take your time reading the other information as the stuff about GFs etc don't take much of a large role yet.
One, the game is big. I don't think anyone, mods included, expected the game to get as big as it got. And as most big games are, it's pretty fast paced, with a lot going on. That being said, there's always something for your characters to do, and if you post, someone will usually tag you. There are several large casts in the game, that tend to stick together, but from what I've seen, there is a lot of cross-fandom tagging. The people in the game are all very friendly, as are the mods
