Rage. I have it.

If this article didn't piss me off enough already, this did:

"Yet another reason why I would do poorly in the army...I wouldn't not be able to let something like that slide and Id end up snipering my own men."

"furthermore, and forgive me for making a semi baseless characterjudgement, you don't seem like the sort of cloth-eared, thoughtless, ( Read more... )

wtf is wrong with people, gonna kick your ass

I'm of the opinion that people who make blanket statements like that are the real idiots.

People are idiots. They like to think they're above 'sheeple' by being down on the armed forces and the people who serve in them. One of the smartest and coolest guys I have known is in the Army and is currently in Korea.

ETA: That being said, sexual harassment and rape are real problems in the military, and unfortunately it's not always dealt with appropriately or at all.

I really, really dislike the fact that all of the people that have/are currently/plan to serve in my family, including both of my parents, my grandparents, my cousins, and my aunts and uncles, are labeled as such horrible things when they are not. It's a huuuuuge button of mine, and it makes me want to go after those jackasses with a shotgun.

They're willing to put their lives on the line to defend you and the people you care about. They spend months away from their own families and friends to do so. A lot of people don't realize the sacrifices they make.

Love the warrior. Hate the war.

I've read that article before, and it upsets me quite a bit, but, WOW, that comment. I don't think I respect any person more then my departed grandfather, who was a soldier during WW2 and one of the genuinely nicest people I've ever known, so this really offends me. >:( Bleh, blanket statements.

I have a huge amount of respect for anyone that chooses to join the military. Sure, there's idiots, but you get those with civilians, too. Condemning a group based on the actions of a few is just wrong.

The military is like any other organization. It has some very serious problems that really need to be addressed and straightened out. And there are people in it who aren't exactly shining examples of humanity.

But at the same time, to make that statement about what makes someone a model US soldier? Yeah, that's just fucking ridiculous and uncalled for. I know a shitload of people in/retired from the military, including my parents, two grandparents, and my boyfriend. None of them are even close to being "stupid, pointlessly patriotic, xenophobes..."

On behalf of a brother who is on fire to be a Marine, I would like to express my rage at this general sentiment as well >:[
