as-yet-untitled fic [EDIT: "Testing the Waters"]

Mar 29, 2005 22:11

sleepdebtfairy keeps making addictive icons lately. Yum. ^^

Mona, here's the fic I promised you quite a while ago now. No description before the cut, due to spoilerage past chapter 101 or so of Fruits Basket. Oh, and ch. 97, naturally. Sorry it took so long to get to posting it--I was slow in getting it proofed, and then my net access has been wonky lately ( Read more... )

fanfic post, fruits basket: akito and shigure, fanfic written for people, fic: "testing the waters" (furuba akito), fruits basket: akito

Nice. Shigure and Akito were perfect. I think the struggle of Kureno is that he is an image upon which desires are reflected, an image which has desires of its own, but that aren't voiced. I like him for the conflicted nature he embodies, but I think that's exactly what makes him difficult to write.

Someday it'd be lovely to feel I had a handle on Kureno (not so sure I *want* to understand the other two that well, sometimes). I love him so much these days. *_* Various 12shi do seem prone to the kind of love that lets them/makes them subsume parts of themselves in it, which is more than a little creepy sometimes. I'm not sure I see Kureno as 'reflecting', quite, but his own desires are definitely lost in there somewhere . . .

*ponders*

I guess I was trying to embody in words what he represents as an image (just to hit myself with a little irony), because I think in many ways he is an IMAGE in furuba. More recently he's taken action, but more is left to what his face is doing that what his mouth is saying.

I liked it.

Thank you! ^^ Gah, I find myself making more and more Haru/Rin icons as the Haru/Yuki fans get more and more annoying. Which isn't entirely a bad thing. xD

I liked the fic! ^^ I think you did a very good job of capturing all of them, although I don't think it can compare to how you capture Haru and Rin. x3
*huggles Kureno* ._.

Yay iconage! (And I love the one you're using here, too.)

Glad to hear that the story worked . . . I was pretty skeptical.

Very nice. I'm glad someone addressed the potential circumstances under which Yuki might have left the Main House. ^_^

Hope Takaya shows how it really happened, someday. ^^

you know...this fic juggled a new theory about how yuki really came to live with shigure. Well i don't doubt haru played a part as it was shown in canon but that's just on shigure's side. What would have convinced Akito who was furious with Shigure to let him take her precious pet rat?

well I think there was some sort of deal/bet between the two. May shigure convinced her that once yuki had tasted and gotten bored of life outside of sohma complex he'd return to her? or maybe she wanted to prove
to him that no matter what her jyunnishi would all return to her.

Dunno but I just find a gaping hole in the Yuki staying outside the complex. There must have been something to have motivated Akito to agree to the deal. Same with Allowing Tohru in Shigure's house. I mean she's like insanely jelous and suspicious that shigure is a skirt chaser (so why let some strange young girl live under the same roof)

oh well just food for thought. Thanks for the lovely mind-stimulating fic ^_^ *hugs*

^^ Glad you liked it! *bows*

Yeah, I really hope we eventually get a solid reason why Yuki was allowed to go and Tohru was allowed to stay; it's definitely weird, and probably also all tangled up in Shigure and Akito's bizarre emotiona power struggle.

Wow. That was very good. I know how you said you were worried about trying to capture them all, but I think you did an excellent job of it. I feel as thought it's very plausible to "actually" have happened.

And I realize I said "actually" as if it actually happened to real people. Odd.

That makes sense . . . good characters are real people in a way, I think. ^^

Oh yes! Definitely.

And I have to chuckle a bit at your icon. Mine has lyrics from Loudon Wainwright and the song on yours was covered by his son Rufus. Interesting...
