It's warm and sunny, and it doesn't matter that I'm not outside. Even just seeing the sun through the window is making me so happy. Also, my entire house is permeated with the smell of strawberries in balsamic, because

I had jewelry going back to the 60s that no, seriously, never wearing again (all my earrings for a start, but those day-glo plastic bead necklaces? really, the 60s aren't coming back.) Put them all out on the front lawn in a box, went in to get paper to write sign, doorbell rings: radiant teenager bedecked like Solomon in all his glory, and her Mom asking 'Is it really alright?' Yup, say I. 'I've found treasure!' says radiant teenager.
If you've got a front area and a neighbourhood, put 'em out, say I. Otherwise they can just go with the clothes to Goodwill or whoever.
There's extremely minimal foot traffic in our little neighborhood, so I suspect taking the necklaces etc. along for donation and seeing if the Value Village or whatever will take them. I don't know why it keep striking me as an odd thing to do--when I think about it, I've seen jewelry in at least a couple of thrift stores. Hmm.
My clutter cure? Having a basement. I swear, this basement in the new place is a Godsend. No room in the main house? Chuck it down there. Hopefully, there's a part of it that we can fancy up somewhat into a reading area since the vast majority of my books are down there (with more to be moved from the garage to the basement). No one ever said being a bibliophile would be easy. I guess it's good practice for becoming a librarian... if I can get THAT kickstarted.
...yeah, I don't think that one works for me. We spent three years with a basement in the co-op before moving here, and getting the stuff all packed up to move was utter hell. As it is, we do have a garage and there's a bunch of stuff in there that needs better organization than it's got, but it's not the nightmare the basement was.
Well, the main reason we have as much stuff as we do down there is that we had a storage unit for seven years when we were in our apartment in Florida. So yes, I can definitely relate to having a lot of stuff to move here and there.
It was a very good weekend on that front. ^_^ Today I'm gonna start easing back into the flow of freelancing from home, but it's really hot and I have a bunch of things that need doing, so "easing" may be the operative word.
I've managed to box up some of the books! I'm all proud. And I have a mental list of four or five series that are still on the shelf, that I figure I can maybe talk myself into getting rid of and not wind up regretting it too much.

De-cluttering is really hard, especially when it concerns books.
