Star Trek and whatnot

I don't know why I have such trouble finding icons I really like for live-action shows*. Anime or manga, no problem. Maybe people use different effects? Or maybe I've been spoiled by having had so many icon-makers in the Fruits Basket fandom whose work I really like. All I can say for sure is that I'm up too late** looking for Star Trek iconage ( Read more... )

I dunno why, but I'm often the same. I think it's just that I love drawings/animation more than I do photos. I never use photos as wallpapers either.

It's a little frustrating. *sighs* I think in my case, part of the problem may be that it seems easier to integrate text on non-photos (although I don't know why?), and I really love icons with text. I do have icons for most live-action shows I like, but I have to actively go hunting for them, as opposed to them magically appearing in front of me.

My daughter says that drawn pictures are much easier to work with and make nice icon effects with than are pictures of real people. I don't know why that is, but I tend to have a hard time finding icons of live-action that I like; when I do, I tend to stumble on them accidentally.

I sometimes come across them accidentally too, which is much nicer than hunting down relevant communities and paging through manymanymany posts. *sighs* And her explanation makes sense--I find I don't tend to like photograph icons that have effects on them, whereas people can tinker with anime/manga images in all kinds of ways I like.
