In which I encounter a premature newt

I thought that perhaps I had another week before the newt migration began. But I came across an early newt on the path last night. It wasn't at all active until it had spent some time sitting on my hand, warming up a bit. At which point it started crawling around slowly and being more convincingly a newt instead of a twig
