I made a real effort in the past couple of years to understand how politics works on your side of the pond but it is often as confusing as ever. At least I now know what a primary is (but I don't understand why they are holding them now) and I understand the benefit of having the opposition party holding the house. Sort of.

Well the primaries in Maryland used to be in May. They moved them to September just a few years ago so voters would be more likely to forget what the legislature did in March. Like any one party state Maryland is just shy of corrupt, the state government works hard to protect the establishment
