1) We took the 6 year old to see Alvin & the Chipmunks a movie I almost dodged because it had so many bad reviews. We do have $2.00 movie theaters further out, but my town (About 55k people between two zip codes) isn’t big enough to support one of them. Typical ticket prices run about $7 for adults and $6.5 for children locally. They run a special early bird special on weekday mornings. Doesn’t really help me though.

I want to see I Am Legend too. Especially since this is the third time this story has been adapted to the screen and to see if it's any more faithful to the original Richar Matheson novella.
For that matter, I still haven't seen Beowulf yet. I'm off Thursday tho, so hopefully Laura and I will finally get to see it that day; preferably in a theater that is showing it in 3D.
I'm curious about Alvin & The Chipmunks. Like anyone, I always have a bit of trepidation whenever they try and "update" something from my childhood, although I'll stop short of accusing Hollywood of "raping" it like so many seem to be doing these days. I'm almost the same way about Speed Racer although I've seen the trailer and it looks really cool. Also it's being done by the Wachowski brothers (The Matrix tirlogy and V For Vendetta) so I'm thinking it ( ... )

I do know that Speed Racer is in our future. My stepson is a car fanatic. Unless something changes we’ll be off to see that one the weekend after it comes out. I hope they don’t mess it up either and will let you know if you’d like.
