Here are my five picks - the reason is the same for all of them unless stated otherwise: I like atmospheric works, works that feel to me like they have a story behind them or have a 'weight' to them. I can't explain it any better than that, it's a case of I know what I like ;)

1)Poplar Trees
2)La Livrette II
3)Winter Trees Tryptich
4)North Berwick Law
5)The Chapel

Hope this was of some help (altho' I suspect not!)

Lots of use. I can't use most of them, but it's good to know your picks. Thanks, Nat.

Oooh, I didn't look at Abstract because I'm not normally a big abstract fan. I do, however, like The Gate - it feels stormy and portentous to me (not sure if it's supposed to).

Good luck on the job application. And let us know what you decide to submit.

You should definitely give it a go. Why not? The worst that happens is they don't pick you for it. I see they say the paintings should be from the last two years, but I'll just mention the five that come to mind.

1) Poplar Trees - Love the way you've emulated the cool sunlight.
2) North Berwick Law - The stark silhouettes mingled with the play of light on the water is striking.
3) Belhaven Bay II - Can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps that lonely bridge, with the flowers in the foreground, and the hills in the distance. It has a strong design sense.
4) The Chapel - Very beautiful palette of colors.
5) Grey Sea III - Again, the palette is lovely. Makes me think of the Pacific during autumn around Monterey Bay, one of my favorite places in the world.

Good luck with it. :)

I suck at this, especially reasons, but here goes (and yes, of course you should give it a shot;)). I guess go for a range of different subjects and styles as much as you can....

The Chapel or Doune Castle. Everyone seems to like The Chapel - the colors are gorgeous, and it's really just a very distinctive image)

Quarto I - no clue why, I just like this one:p

Eymet Bridge (love the water reflections in this)

Poplar Trees (very striking, and an unusual composition)

One of the beachscapes, but I'm not sure which. La Livrette (I) would be a good choice too

I think the selction will be based on something like this list, though I can't sue all the ones mentioned above. Cheers, Daj!

No question; go for it. If you don't, you'll regret it.

It's worth a go. I don't know what they'll be looking for, but if you don't have it, it ain't important. ;)

As for images, I would go with:

1. North Berwick Law (of course I'd pick that :p).
2. Winter Trees.
3. Quarto I.
4. Doune Castle.
5. Eymet Bridge.

This is my list, too. If I were going to change it, I'd maybe put in "Dogs" or a still life for variety.

Can't do North Berwick 'cause it's not REAL :( Or done recently.

Thanks for the list :)
