Updates, medical 'n' stuff

darkclawtwolf and I have officially started the K1 visa process. We're looking into a possible late 2012 wedding date at this point. (Wow, I actually used the word "wedding" for reals!) I miss him, but video chat is a lovely thing.

One piece of advice, having gone through the whole immigration thing for marriage myself - if you haven't hired an immigration attorney to do the paperwork, look into it. It's more expensive, but it gives more weight to your application (and the various paperwork that will follow), which in turn means Immigration is less likely to nitpick it or put it to the bottom of the pile.

Oh, and a second...I know it's a ways in the future, but keep any and all tangible evidence of your relationship so you have plenty to show at the scary meeting with Immigration officials. Family photos, statements from friends and family that they are fully aware of the relationship, proof of pooled money, statements from joint accounts, etc. The meeting that will allow Darkclaw to get his conditional status green card will be one of the most uncomfortable things ever. You will feel like your relationship is being put under the microscope and questioned - and that's pretty much what's happening.

All that said, best of luck to you both! :D

Oh we're definitely hiring a law firm (that specializes in immigration visas) to help with the process. One of my Nat'l Guard buddies hooked me up with this firm- they helped him get his Eastern European wife into the country (and his son... guess he got married first, then tried to get her a visa).

Joint accounts? We don't have any right now, but have been thinking of establishing one. I'll definitely keep records. As for friends, just about any of the Reg or Internet Den staff at Anthrocon is very well aware of our relationship, and can vouch for our diabetic-inducing lovey relationship. :-)

Thank you so much for the tips! I'll definitely keep good records.

Talk to the PT folks; it.. might be stuff you're already doing, but it might not hurt. Erfle on the muscle cramps, those sound rough.

I admittedly enjoyed Fritz the cat as much for the furry sexin' as the 60's/70's wackiness. Not to say either was astounding, but. :)
