Only gone to the 1 event so far. Having dinner at Zelda's tonight so we'll see how packed the village is already. I'm not sold on watching the parade Saturday or Sunday. We'll see. I suppose I could have added one more 5) Attended 4 prides in 1 summer, marching in 2 (Vancouver, Europride [Manchester that year], Toronto and Ottawa). I marched in Europride and the Toronto ones. But, ironically, I don't think that's something to be proud of.
The bigger miracle for me was that I managed to get re-elected. Political (now political and education) was the most contested portfolio the year I ran for re-election because so many gay white men had felt their plight abandoned by yours truly.
There are unconfirmed rumours of a dyke who didn't disclose her intersexity (Yes, I know her. No I won't inquire about her medical history.) before me. The T wasn't added to the group name until 2001 if memory serves me right and it was highly contested. Some of us briefly tried to add another T, an I and 2S but that was met with too much uproar. I don't recall if you were there, but I made half a dozen grown men cry and exit a general meeting to get women&trans as well as QOC only hours at the drop-in centre. I was not popular with the vast majority of members and I know many of them breathed large sighes of relief when I graduated.
I was not at that meeting, but you've definitely told me about it. Those hours were in place when I came in. And I definitely had run-ins with the GWM type, so I understand where you're coming from. On a related but tangential note, I remember seeing a Nivea ad for a self-tanning lotion in bus shelters last year or something that said "Take the W out of GWM." Now, I can't be the only one who finds that racist, or at the very least, highly insensitive...

You were the first trans exec? Huh... you'd think that it wouldn't have taken them that long... But yes, good job!
