The 1983 invasion of Grenada was basically Ronald Reagan's way of reminding us that communism is bad.
Revolutionary overthrows of legal governments are also bad, but it's way worse when the revolutionary governments are buddies with the Soviet Union and Cuba.
That's why we invaded Grenada. Because we thought the revolutionary government (which had imposed martial law and suspended human rights and elections) was building an airstrip for Soviet attacks on the U.S. It didn't really matter to Reagan whether this was true or not and he lied to Margaret Thatcher's face about the coming invasion (as Grenada is even more attached to English governing than Canada).
