Kindle and Overdrive (used by Google Play) are trivial. iBooks apparently isn't hard but I've never tried.

Nook is a pita on linux, though I keep meaning to sit down and see if I can fix that.

Primarily the new Seanan McGuire. A number of other things were released, but that was yesterday's buy, download, curse a lot.

This publishing employee totally agrees with you. When an individual purchases an ebook, they should be able to read it for the rest of their life, which includes being able to convert it to new formats if needed, not losing access due to the DRM server being shut down, being able to run it through a screen reader or other accessibility software, etc.
