Everyone knew.
She knew, Superman knew, Jason knew--hell, Lex Luthor knew.
It was only fair that she told Richard.
Lois wanted to tell Richard. It was just that she was afraid the news would break his heart. Or worse, he would hate her for deceiving him for the last five years.
As much as Lois feared the prospect of telling Richard that Jason's father was Superman, she had another, greater fear. She feared that Jason would say something before she did and Richard would find out about Jason's parentage inadvertently. The fear was suffocating.
So she told him.

"Remember when they recovered Lex Luthor's ship?"
Richard folded his newspaper. Lois was standing in the doorway.
"There was only one causality--a man with a hideous tattoo on his skull."
"I remember reading about him," mentioned Richard. "He was crushed by the piano when the ship sank."
"Before it sank; I saw it."
"Impossible. The power needed to move it--"
"Jason did."
A pause. "Oh."
"I wanted to tell you sooner, but I wasn't sure."
Another pause. "I think I always knew."
"And you're okay with that?"
Richard smiled weakly. "I still love him... and you."
*
"Lois?"
Lois looked up from her computer screen and saw Clark.
"I need your opinion."
"What is it?" He had interrupted her mid-article, but Clark rarely interrupted her, unless it was crucial.
"Privately," stressed Clark, pointing to a storage room.
Lois would have refused anyone else, but Clark was different. Clark wouldn't try anything. (And if he did, Lois might not say no.)
Inside the storage room, Clark turned to her. "If Superman ever told anyone about his identity, who would it be?"
After studying Clark's face, she chose her words carefully.
"He would tell me."
*
To her surprise, Richard accepted the news that Superman was Clark Kent even more readily than he had accepted the news that Jason's biological father was Superman. In fact, he laughed when Lois first told him.
"You're joking," he insisted.
"I'm not," insisted Lois. The smile tugging at the edge of her lips did nothing to persuade Richard to believe her.
"But Superman is - " he started, but stopped. "But Clark is - " He stopped again. "They're both so... indescribable," he finished lamely.
"But it's true."
"Well," said Richard, smiling. "That certainly takes a lot of pressure off parenting."

Two weeks later, Richard invited Clark to have a drink after work. Clark accepted.
He had never blamed Richard for Lois choosing him. After all, he had been the one to leave.
At the bar, they ordered whiskey and watched the TV in silence for awhile.
"Lois told me everything--about the cape, about the kid," said Richard suddenly.
Clark was silent.
"I'm okay with it. You're a good man."
"So are you."
Richard emptied his glass and smacked it down. Reaching over, he squeezed Clark's knee and left without a word.
Clark didn't move, long after Richard had gone.
*
Clark moved into Richard and Lois' house a few months later. When people asked him why he gave up his apartment, he told them that Richard and Lois' house was nicer--and that the rent was cheaper, too. This was only partly true.
In reality, Clark moved in after Richard and Lois decided not to get married. Subconsciously, they had decided against it a long time ago. Richard was the first to voice it when he told Lois that, if Superman was to share their hearts and their sheets, he might as well share their home.
So Clark moved in.
