Sometime after Michael left - or really, at the point when the boy managed to knee his face - Zechs had decided further drinking really wasn't the best of ideas. So it was with a tall glass of water and a bottle of asprin that he continued to spend the evening once alone, a hangover finding him around dinnertime and leaving him in the evening. He listened to Berloiz, and moved on to far more depressing opera, to distract him instead. Around one in the morning, he doubted his decision to stop drinking ( ... )

Tyki had been heading for the bedroom, aware that it was still early and wondering if Zechs was even home, when he heard his lover's voice drifting over to him from the living room.

His feet immediately turned in that direction, but he stopped dead the moment he saw him, his eyes widening with shock and anger.

"What happened to you? Who did this to you?" As a horrible thought struck him, that perhaps he didn't remember everything, he took a step back. "Did...did I...?"

Two things were immediately clear to Zechs - one, that his lover was in his right mind once again - and two, that Tyki had full memory of the previous day's events. Tyki hesitated uncertainly when Zechs embraced him, but it took little encouragement to get him to wrap his arms tightly around the other man and lower his head to Zechs' shoulder.

His memories haunted him, it was true, but more was the worry that something like that could truly happen. He didn't think it was possible for the Earl to order him to cut all ties like that, but if he did surrender - or lose the battle - to his Noah, what would happen next?

"I'm... so glad you didn't come to me," he whispered. "I don't know what I would have done to you..."

Zechs was very aware this was the true seat of Tyki's fear. Just as he feared becoming mad, or losing his mind - what he was capable of, more than what others could do to him - this was what his husband was afraid of. He realized it the moment he saw Relena in the video, and understood what it meant. Zechs held onto Tyki fiercely, trying to show how he felt ( ... )
