I've posted a few pics already about this, and made some tweets. More pictures will be posted later, as in after we've got things fully cleaned up ( Read more... )

I... but... who...

Okay, yeah, loss for words.

Best thing you can do, though, is not to wallow around in the what-ifs. That kind of shit will drive you batty.

Glad y'all are okay.

This is exactly what homeowner's insurance is intended to cover. Be patient, provide documentation, and it should, ideally, cover the repairs (and then rake dude's car insurance company over the coals to pay themselves back).

Glad everyone is unharmed and just disquieted.

Having your pictures and a copy of the police report for the insurance adjuster will go a long way towards getting that financial ball rolling. As far as looking for folks to do the repair work, Service Magic is a decent portal for saying "hey, I have such and such a project that needs doing. gimme a quote" if your insurance provider doesn't say "we'll pay for one of the folks from this list of companies to do the work."

Holy crow. Just...damn.

But yeah, what etcet said. Your landlord (or homeowners' insurance) should cover that, as should his liability insurance. Not that dealing with insurance isn't always a gigantic PitA, but it's better than being on the hook yourself.

Glad it didn't ruin any of your stuff. And I hope you manage well. *hug*

Glad you're ok :( Sounds pretty scary - I'm not surprised you are shaking you sound like you are still in shock and it might take a while to calm down.
