In the life of a true football fan, there are only a few things that can make them feel as disappointed as reaching a final and then not winning it, and it's true that right now I'm shattered, gutted beyond words

So very sorry, my darling. I understand how you feel. But yeah, you'll feel better tomorrow. You've had a great season, and you have many, many reasons to be proud of your team.
I suck at consoling people, and I'm not feeling too goo about the Inter win, so I'll just hug you some more, shall I?
Hugs from you are always very much appreciated, so yes, keep them coming! :D *hugs back*
I read an interview with Arjen Robben in which he said that he was utterly baffled when Bayern did their second tour through Munich after the CL final (the first was done when they won the league: they drove through the city in cabrio cars and waved at the fans before presenting the trophy on the city hall balcony) and there were thousands of fans cheering for them and applauding them. I think he knows now what this season meant for all of us, even despite the loss of the CL final. And he also said that it wasn't our time this time, but that the team will continue improving and maybe next year we'll compete with the best again.
I'm sorry, Bill. When the match started I thought Bayern was looking really good, and I thought they could actually win it. I don't even think Inter was that much better as a team. But they are very good at keeping the other teams from scoring and they did it again. I'm sure the Bayern players are beating themselves up but they shouldn't. They can be proud that they made it to the final and looked pretty damn good. XDDD
Inter won because they had the best strategy, and it's not difficult for me to admit that. Their defense was a wall, and they had Diego Milito, who didn't only score the most goals of the tournament but is also the right striker type for a defensive oriented team - like a wasp that circles its prey patiently and then strikes quickly when an opportunity presents itself. Two blunders from Bayern's defense were enough for him to score two goals. It doesn't get any better than this.
But you're right, the Bayern players mustn't beat themselves up about the result, they've achieved a lot this season and I'm damned proud of them. :)
These are exactly my thoughts and feelings. I'm disappointed, because even when we were 2 goals down, I was sure we would turn things around and win.
I'll realise that Louis van Gaal accomplished what I've always wanted, what Jürgen Klinsmann promised but failed to do: To make every player a little bit better every day. To make them give their best in every game. To have a team instead of a collection of egoistical solo artists. I couldn't have expressed it any better, and I'm really thankful that Van Gaal chose to join this team.
I know this wasn't our best match and that we could have played better, but I'm absolutely proud of this team. We've learned so much this season, and I'm sure this is just the beginning of great era for Bayern.
Very true! I haven't felt this optimistic about my team in years, and even five minutes before the game ended, I was still confident they'd turn it around. Only they weren't quite good enough this time. But then again, I believe Van Gaal's plan is not yet complete, his work not yet finished, the process not quite over yet. And maybe it's a good thing that they didn't win the biggest trophy this season so they'll be particularly motivated next season. :) The beginning of a great era, as you said. :)
Very well said, and you have every right to be proud of Bayern, anyway. You played a fantastic season, and everyone (Bayern supporter or not) acknowledge. I was hoping for Bayern to win, though, simply because I cannot stand Italian football, but as you said, they were the better team (and, if they managed to defeat Barça, they probably deserved that title all the more) last night.
Anyway. Congrats on a great season, though.
BTW, might be heading to Augsburg to support Hertha there next season. ;o)
Oh, I am! I haven't been this proud of the club in ages. :) Van Gaal did a brilliant job, and I hope things will continue in this fashion.
Any team that kicks the former champion out of the tournament deserves to win the trophy, and I'm really not particularly sad that Inter won because I like them. There's always next season. :D
Looking forward to meeting you in Augsburg - though I naturally won't be able to cheer for Hertha... ;)
Exactly! Getting to the final with this team is nothing short of amazing, and I have all sorts of respect for our coach and pride for the players for achieving this. We're still "under construction", so to speak, the process of forming the team that Van Gaal intends isn't yet over, so what we achieved is more than I would have ever dreamed of at the beginning of this season.
There's always next season, for Bayern and for Rangers (who will hopefully be a bit more successful then - fingers crossed!).
