Oh Bill, this is awesome. I was wondering yesterday if you were going to the match. I watched it on GOLTV and enjoyed it immensely and I wasn't even there so I can only imagine how much fun it must have been to have actually been there
( ... )
Oh yes, it was indeed great fun! I guess I would have been rather annoyed if I had cheered for Germany, because the German team played like utter crap, but since I wasn't, the evening was very enjoyable for me. :D
Kicker called Klose and Poldi the "2-goals-attack", because Klose and Podolski have scored 2 goals for their clubs since the winter break. It really is pathetic. But Jogi Löw seems to be convinced that these two are Germany's best strikers for South Africa. *sigh* Cacau brought a bit of life into the performance of the German team against Argentina, but he couldn't perform miracles either. I'm sorry for everyone who has high hopes for this German team, because I can see no way for them to succeed. If they play like this in the World Cup, they won't even make it past the group stage
( ... )
Oh wow! The match seemed like it would have been a good one! I;ve only ever been to one match and that was between an Australian team and an American one (the day that Becks came to Sydney) so you can imagine the skills difference here between the match I saw and the one(s) you've seen!
But I'm glad you had a great time!
Your "Mascherano is in the process of being fouled." pic is quite epic-ly funny!
Thanks for taking photos and sharing! When I went, I was almost always too busy watching to remember to take photos. That and we were quite high up and my camera was quite bad so any photos I took weren't of that good a quality anyway!
But your little story of the Argentine man is funny and yet so lovely! It's always nice when strangers can share something. It makes a trip that much more heartwarming =) Oh and heheh to you pretending to be a fan of the Argentina team (I mean, you probably are still, but first and foremost a Germany fan, I presume?)
I can imagine the difference! But hey, you got Becks! That must have been awesome, too! :D
Hahaha, I knew that people would like the Mascherano pic. It really was the most hilarious coincidence. XD
I was ordered by several LJ friends to bring my camera and take lots of photos, so I'm glad you enjoyed them! :) The quality would have been a lot better if I had been standing on the outside of the pitch (hahaha XD), but I'm rather pleased with the way the pics turned out. :)
I always love chatting with other fans but I don't often get the opportunity. It was so much fun to talk to the Argentine guy! :D (And no, as long as Jogi Löw is in charge of the German team, I'm first and foremost a supporter of Spain and Argentina, not Germany. I know it's rather disloyal of me, but considering what I wrote about Löw's decisions above, I don't think anyone can blame me for it.)
hilarious coincidences are the best type of photos! Tehy were even better in the days of film photos - you really got a surprise then!
Yeah, I got to see Becks, and a trademark Becks free kick too! But y'know, I love the game and it was a shame the quality difference was there. But someday, i'll see myself a good match =D AFter all, Liverpool's curent form is not so great either,no?
Oh, I see about the German team. Don't worry, I completely understand. I'm not really a Socceroos fan either. =P
Argentiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiina ♥ It's one of my favourites NT (first: CATALUNYA! seconds: Spain and Italy, and then, Argentina <3333333)... I saw them the 22nd-December at Camp Nou and it was... ♥ My national team, Argentina NT, and the Argentine fans! They're awesome! The 90 minutes cheering their team, and in the 15min half time, THEY WERE CHEERING THEIR TEAM TOO!
You're absolutely right, the Argentine fans are awesome! They're so much fun, and they keep chanting for their team! They're fantastic supporters! :) Germany's fans aren't quite like that - their support isn't unconditional, and they stop chanting when the team performs badly. (Understandable, too.)
And I wish I had been at the Argentina-Spain friendly last year. I wanted to go, but then I found out the tickets were ridiculously expensive, and I would have had to pay for a flight and a hotel room on top of that. I just couldn't afford it. *sigh*
Hehehe, it felt great to say I was from Argentina! XDD But funnily enough it's not even that extraordinary that Argentines travel for friendlies. There were several of them in the block where I was sitting!
Yeah, I was sitting a bit higher up, which is why the pics aren't that clear, but I used a different setting with my camera this time, so the quality is a bit better. And yes, the net was annoying. *grmbls* Also, the German team inexplicably didn't warm up in front of their fanblock but on my side of the pitch. WTF.
Glad you liked the entry! :)
Unfortunately I still don't have news for the match in summer, but I'll let you know as soon as I do. Would be awesome if they published the date in time so you can get the cheap flight! :)

Yes, most of the supporters are like this: They shout and sing and jump and (...) only when their team is doing ZOMG things...
I was at the catalunya - argentina, which was cheaper (I PAID 25 € AND I WAS NEARLY TOUCHING THE FIELD!!!)
