incompetence, thy name is real madrid...

This might just have been Bernd Schuster's last match as coach of Real Madrid, and if it was, I don't quite agree with it. Granted, it's always the easiest to sack the coach when the team isn't doing well because it's cheaper than sacking the players who are actually responsible for it. But is it fair? Schuster did a great job at Getafe, and I'm ( Read more... )

I agree with you they shouldn't sack Bernd but they probably will. I think Mijatovic is the guy who should go. It was he who said the team was strong enough as it was and would not grant Schuster his wish list of players to sign in the last transfer season ( ... )

Sorry for the late reply.

I think both Calderón and Mijatović are to blame here, they wasted time, energy and money when they could have spent it wisely. I'll never forgive them for offending Villa and Cazorla. Imagine what the team would be like if we had those two players!

After the game against Huelva, I decided we need to keep Ramos at all costs - not as a rightback but as a centreback. Seriously, he's the best we have at the moment, and I think that his true position is there.

I was so gutted when Higuaín injured himself on Saturday. Now we have to rely on Raúl and Saviola, and that's probably the worst that can happen. I bet none of them will score on Tuesday. *facepalm*

OMG I agree with you about Ramos being a good centreback! I thought he was extremely good in that position! Absolutely the best on the team. I do like him there rather than at right back. And he still got forward to take a couple of shots. Plus, he played with more confidence than he has been doing and I wouldn't be surprised to see him scoring again when he is in that position!

Well, I know that a strike force is a problem for Real right now. But the other guys who are capable goal scorers (and there are several!) will have to step up! Players like Wesley, Rafa, Guti, Sergio and Marcelo can score goals!

Btw, has anyone heard anything about Ruben de la Red? How long will he be out? It seems funny that if he only fainted, he would be out so long! Is there something wrong with him that they want to keep private? Oh god, I hope he doesn't have a heart condition!!! :(

Exactly! I definitely think he's better as a centreback. Also, this would leave a spot for Miguel Torres. :DI don't think I've ever seen Marcelo score a goal (and probably won't if Schuster keeps putting Heinze as leftback *shakes head*), but I agree, since our two best strikers are out of action, it's the responsibility of the others, especially the attacking midfielders and the creative department, to make up for that. We can't rely on Saviola and Raúl ( ... )

I really don't have a clue about Spanish football or Real Madrid. I just came here to say that I misread the first word of your headline as "impotence". Yes, yes I'll go hide in a corner now.

I think Metzelder is Real's version of Liverpool's Degen. Neeeverrr playing thanks to injuries. Always injuries.

Spot-on. (I'm not surprised that Borussia Dortmund had such bad seasons with the two of them.)

I think it's a worrying factor that the team still doesn't click together. I mean they have been playing together for a season now and apart from a few changes, it basically is the same team from last season.

Sorry for the late reply.

*sigh* Yeah, you're right. I don't really have an explanation for that, either. It's obvious, though, that we depend on Ruud van Nistelrooy a lot, and that we're practically useless up front without him. Higuaín (though a good player), isn't as reliable. Also, the defense seemed to listen to Casillas a lot more last season. I wouldn't say it's a matter of not clicking together still, it's one of not clicking together anymore. For whatever reasons.

Maybe they read my journal, because they were a LOT better against Huelva on Saturday. ;)
