Because we wanted Riera from there. And I agree, Riera is awesome, but... *sigh* I just can't believe that the only way we could have gotten Riera was by letting Finns go. I'm sure there would have been another way.

*cries*

I hope he finds a gorgeous Spanish woman (or man!) to keep him company now that he's been so cruelly separated from the club where he belongs. :(

I hope so too. :( And you're totally right about him being cruelly separated from the club where he belongs. I'm grateful for Riera, but I refuse to believe this was the only way for us to get him. :(

I don't know... :/ I sort of think we were obliged to sell players in order to get Riera, because we're so disgustingly low on funds. So I think it was inevitable that several players were going to have to leave.
I'm just devastated that it was Finns, who has been with us for so long, rather than people such as Voronin and Pennant. :(

It seems pretty ridiculous that a club with rather rich American owners can be so low on funds. Don't they care at all? And also, why did we have to sign Philipp Degen? He's hardly ever played so far because he's injured all the time. Also, I've watched him in the Bundesliga for two seasons, and he's really not that excellent. I just don't get it. :/
Voronin left on loan and seems to be doing okay at Hertha, but you're right, why Finns and not Pennant? I do like Penns, but he hasn't really been playing that often, and he's competing with Kuyt, Benayoun and sometimes even Babel for his spot.

You're right, it would have been worse if he had gone to Barça - but then again, I like far too many Barça players already, so I guess it wouldn't have mattered, I'm a traitor anyway. *sigh*

*LOL* Excellent idea!

Awwww....he looks so lost or something!!!
I know it's so sad and wrong and all that, but seriously, I like Espanyol! I've been watching them for a couple of seasons now and they are a good club with very likeable players (some of them world-class) that are not bought and sold that frequently!
Trust me! I liked them instantly, and not just because they were not FC Barcelona! They seem like a "family" club. Their players seem important to them. The only way they let Riera go was because he wanted to go to a bigger club!
They have Raul Tamudo, Luis Garcia (the other one), De La Pena, Daniel Jarque and several other very decent players, whose names have been bandied about by the "bigger" clubs over the past couple of years. But these guys seem to have real loyalty and stay with their team.

Anyway, sorry to go on, but I have a feeling that Finny could fit in very well there if he is flexible enough to want to learn Spanish and get into the culture. At least it's more beautiful and has better weather than Liverpool.
Trying to look ( ... )

Thanks to your comment I don't feel that bad about the whole thing anymore. Of course, the way he was made to leave Liverpool was just wrong, and he doesn't really look too happy in those pics, but if the club is as you described, it's definitely the best choice he could have made, and he'll be smiling again in no time. :)

Excellent point. XD And Agger can always come visit. ;)

Yes, Espanyol really is a special team. I love them, actually.
I believe Stevie is injured at the moment, but once he's recovered I'm sure he'll enjoy playing there!
Ooohhh....yes, I'm sure Daniel will visit Stevie on his holidays!XDDDD
