I think, given the lack of help he had, van Buyten had a stellar game and he was all over the place today. Something definitely needs to be done because it was obvious that Lucio was hurt right away but there wasn't anyone to bring on in his place.
Yeah, he was pretty good, but still, he would have been much better if he'd had someone beside him to help him. Lucio has proved to be no help at all, especially after he hurt himself. I was wondering why Klinsmann didn't sub him with Ottl because Andi can play that position. *scratches head*
Oh yeah I know. If he had had help I think the defense would've looked pretty solid. There are of course still holes, but in all honesty, there will always be holes as long as Lucio is involved.
AAAGGHHHHH!!! I'm watching this game on GOLTV at 9 PM tonight. Never mind, it's my own fault for getting online before the game starts here. LOL. I'm not reading your post, though, until after I see the game, so I can match opinions!♥
Oh crap I seem to have all Argie/Spanish NT/Olympic icons at the moment! No Bundesliga! *facepalm*
Two penalties, four goals, and a rather exciting game. I thought it really was a great game too! It was fast, there were some nice plays, lots of movement, good refereeing and lots of goals is always a good thing!
So both Bayern and Hamburg decided to have their "notorious bad boy" captain their teams? Very amusing. XD Yes, how hilarious! I laughed when Van Bommel got the first yellow card of the season! LOL. For pulling Paolo Guerrero down. Van Bommel seems to have a 'thing' for Latino pretty boys!!! LMAO. (Too bad Fernando Meira has moved to Greece.):(
The referee association had published new guidelines for referees for the EuroYah!!! And I was glad to see that the refereeing was so good. It seems so inconsistent all over the world, though. In the EPL it ranges so widely between excellent and piss-poor. In Argentina it's generally dreadful but so hilarious and entertaining that I think if they changed it would hurt the game there.XD In Colombia, the refereeing is generally excellent, which seems strange, but I'm

Okay, so apparently, you can only edit your posts as long as nobody has replied to them, so I couldn't get back to my original comment and the messed up html. *sigh* Anyway, here's my updated comment. Hope I got the html right this time. *is made of fail*
*glomps your Carra icon* :D

Too bad Fernando Meira has moved to Greece. To Turkey, you mean. ;) (OMG, I can't wait for the Güiza vs Meira duel. It's bound to happen, after all. :D) But you're right, they had a very special thing going on. I'm sure van Bommel misses him a lot. XD

LOL. You're welcome! Great reply, btw. I love talking about refs. I have noticed such inconsistencies in various leagues. In Argentina, the refs are awful, just really bad. But for some strange reason, it makes the games seem like more fun, with so many divers and sendings off where the refs get it completely wrong. And so much comedic refereeing, like one guy getting a yellow card when it was a different guy who committed the foul. *facepalm*
On the other hand, The refs in the Colombian league are incredibly accurate almost 100% of the time. I have never seen one get a call wrong yet!!! It is so very interesting why there are these discrepancies.
And I agree the refs in the EPL are excrutiatingly poor as well. I cringe at some of them. Others are OK, but for the most part they are as terrible as the Argentine ones.
I thought the game was okay - even though I missed the first goal and only realized we'd scored because all around me, people were celebrating :)
One thing that really annoys me is that our set-plays end in nothing. We had four free-kicks at about the same spot close to Hamburg's penalty area. I don't know if they were all shot by the same person, but they all landed in the keeper's arms. That's totally not how these things should go.
Also the Hamburg fans were really loud and the Bayern echo in the second half was horrible... "Bayern" - "Schweine" and the Südkurve just kept repeating it, apparently not noticing it... =/
One thing that really annoys me is that our set-plays end in nothing. Good point. *sigh* I wish they'd practise corners and free-kicks a bit more often, because they're seriously lacking in that department. I don't remember exactly if Kroos took all the free-kicks, Lucio and van Bommel might have taken some, too, but if at least one of them had been precise, we might have won the game, and that's annoying.
"Bayern" - "Schweine" and the Südkurve just kept repeating it, apparently not noticing it... =/ Oh dear. :/
Loved your SMS when Schweinsteiger scored *glomp* helped me feel a little bit of love in the HSV-supporter-filled pub where I watched the match.
I agree with your comments on refereeing- hopefully fewer fouls in the box will lead to more goals? Also, I think the ref played it safe by awarding each side a penalty, shows the league how (hopefully) calls will be made, and didn't penalize any one side.
And defense... *sigh* As I'm obsessed with a fan of Demichelis, it's painful to watch Van Buyten and Lucio. Both have their deficits, and neither is optimal in that position. I really hope that both will grow & improve until Micho can come back!
Looking forward to watching another Bayern game with you soon! *hugs*
