Yeah, that's what I think, too. I don't want to say that the Turks didn't show any effort, and it's still true that goals win games, but I really wanted the Czechs in the quarterfinals, not the Turks. (Which might have something to do with the fact that I can't sleep when all of Augsburg's Turkish population drive through the city honking all night.)
Ah, okay, the website didn't say that. But still, it kind of figures that they lost when Meira was playing. I do love the man, but he's really bad luck sometimes (and the epitome of rage in other times).
Yeah, that's what I hope, too. *is very evil* I just don't want another Germany vs Turkey game because my whole country will go nuts. *sigh*
Well, of course, I didn't mean that. ;) I suppose sweetestremedy has influenced me too much in this matter. She believes that Nando, though she loves him, is bad luck for any team he plays in - at least most of the time. Weirdly enough, that wasn't the case before Juve showed interest in him.
I'm so NOT a Turkey fan... but my god, what a game!
For some wierd reason unknown to me, a had a brain-fart while making my bets in the pool I'm in for the Euro - and tipped on 3:2 for Turkey.
So imagine me going absolutely nuts in the last 15 mintues as I saw my tip come true - and catapult me to the top of the pool! (nobody else was stupid enough to tip 3:2...)
And, I have to say, Hamit Altintop played the game of his career. While most of the Bayern boys have faltered this summer - he's really had a huge tournament.
*is looking forward to Hamit back in a Bayern jersey soon!!*
OMG, YOU BROUGHT BAD LUCK ON THE CZECHS!!! O______O
*LOL* No, seriously. I'm glad you got something good out of this game. :) It was really hard for me to watch that match, not just because of my Czech heritage. Turks just aren't my thing - and I don't want to sound racist or anything, but there's only so much not so nice encounters with Turkish people that I can take. (Mostly of the annoying and non-violent kind, but still.)
OMFG, but Portugal was horrible in this game! *facepalm* Honestly, Scolari probably regretted his choice to put in eight new players who clearly have had NO TIME to get used to playing together! And Quaresma! He was so awful I cringed for him. Why oh why did he keep trying those stupid fancy tricks instead of just passing a direct ball to someone? *shudders* Don't even remind me about it
( ... )
When I last checked the score of this game it was 2-0 Czechs, I think. And then I was walking up Queen St in Toronto last night and a car drove by with a Turkish flag flying out the window and thought to myself "I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means..."
