WHY LIVERPOOL?? WHY???

And yay Chelsea for winning! I still want the special one back though.

I watched the Stuttgart match and it broke my heart, because they were pouring their hearts out in that match :(

Grant won't stay long, I bet. I'm certain he's not the man to make a change at Chelsea, and as soon as they lose a couple of games in a row, the club officials will hopefully realise it and look for a proper replacement for Mourinho. For the sake of the fans, I hope that this will happen very quickly.

Stuttgart definitely seemed to have adopted a different attitude than against Glasgow. They had faith in themselves, they fought hard, and this is what makes the loss especially tragic. They deserved a draw at least, I think. Let's hope they'll do better against Lyon, because they might be Stuttgart's last chance to reach the last sixteen. *keeps fingers and toes crossed*

I'm still gutted. First loss of the season from MARSEILLE??? FTW.

The midfield was so terrible, I don't think the strikers even got any proper opportunities to score.

I didn't have the time to look for a match summary yesterday because of UEFA Cup, so I still don't have an opinion and can't present an analysis. You say it's the midfield - any player in particular? Bad passes? Or just a lack of cleverness and strategy? Xabi is injured, right? Was Stevie playing at least? And who else played? (I saved the website with the line-ups yesterday but deleted it after having written this post.) Maybe Benítez should have played at least Mascherano (and Babel, maybe) for a couple of minutes? Especially Masche could have changed things for the better. But I know it doesn't help to talk about what could have been. :( Liverpool, please win against Besiktas at least!

*sighs* It was just a bad week all round. Except for Arsenal, all my teams crashed and burned, and Schalke, Schalke of all teams actually won. The bastards.

Lazio-Real

Man, that was tough for me. I really, really hate Lazio (their Ultras go after their management with guns, no I'm not exaggerating), but I don't like Real, either. Ultimately it didn't matter because Werder lost, so screw the rest of their group, anyway.

Stuttgart-Barcelona

Goddamn. Stuttgart was really pushing, really holding their own, and I thought there was a chance. And then they just... ran out of steam. How depressing. And it's not something I can offer up a fix for, like I can (more or less) for their problems in the league. I don't know why they ran out of steam. And it happened before the first goal, too, so it's not a flailing panic attack either. Oh Stuttgart. I love you, but please, please get it together.

Rosenborg-Schalke

Fuckers.

Werder-OlympikaosI DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT. No, seriously, I paid goddamn UEFA.com US$7.05 for a ( ... )

Actually, I'm happy Schalke won. We need the points, and I want at least one German team to survive the group stage. If it's Schalke, I doff my hat at them, because they don't have an easy group. It won't make me a Schalke fan, of course, but it would make me happy.

their Ultras go after their management with guns, no I'm not exaggeratingWTF? Gah, one more reason why Real should have won this. Am still annoyed ( ... )

Liverpool were shit. Truly poor performance. The only time they attacked was from the 92th to the 94th minute. Deserved loss, I'd say, as bitter as it is.

:( Dammit. And against Marseille, too. Couldn't they have picked a better team against which to be in bad form as a collective? *sigh*

Marseille is where in the French league? 10th?

Uh, 17th, I think. That was a terrible match. and I watched it in a bar with a bunch of French fans and it was embarasing. Liverpool just couldn't keep it together. Their passing was slopping, and there were so many mid-field turnovers my head was spinning. Marseille scored an additional two goals that were called offside, but barely, and they deserved both of them - they were the only team to really create offensive chances. The one chance that Liverpool really had was a disaster - goalkeeper out of the play, with the ball bouncing arond the penalty area, and all they could do was fire shots off of defenders, the goal posts, anywhere but the back of the net. Ridiculous ( ... )

I know what you mean. OH LIVERPOOL. :(

And considering that Milan fan, I probably wouldn't have been able to refrain from laughing, either. God, how annoying. *sigh* Poor you!

I suppose you have every reason to be mad at Real because Ajax dropped out of the UEFA Cup and once again it was so evident that Wesley is missing. :( I'm sorry!

Fortunately, Germany's UEFA Cup matches were all more or less successful. Only Leverkusen lost, but they reached the group stage anyway, so I'm not complaining.

Ha. Ha. Ajax. What a mess. The only bright spot in that match was that we somehow found a way to come from behind and score twice at the end of overtime to finish in a draw. And then, of course, get knocked out anyway on away goals. And the troubles just continue in the Eredivisie. We just lost our coach.

And, I mean, I don't blame Wesley for leaving, at all - that's the curse of Dutch football, all these players come up through the youth system, which is phenomenal, and turn into wonderful players, and then just as they are beginning to fulfill their potential they leave, for a better league and a club that will pay them more. Only about a third of the Dutch national squad actually plays in the Eredivsie. And it makes total sense for them to leave, because it's what's best for their careers. It's just frustrating.

Especially because I like Real. It's very difficult to be angry with them ( ... )
