You should really watch the Hornblower movies if you're interested in Age of Sail history. They're extremely well done, with a lot of respect to historical details and facts, and the acting is brilliant, too. Also, there's slash potential. One must not forget that. Yes, there is a canon threesome. (But only for two movies, alas.)

Do you know of Fort Dobbs? It's a historical sight in NC and was prominate in the French and Indian wars or the Seven Years wars as it was called in Europe...I got asked to reinact there! Yay! I get to dress in 18th century clothes and goggle at men in dress much liken to the 18th century...so me happy!
