Awww, drunk!Ianto meets Jack's family. Sweet. And Jack's all touchy-feely. :) I like Alice's reserve and residual bitterness -- it wouldn't be the holidays without family sniping at each other, and she's got a lot of ammunition.

This line was especially poignant:
There it was, the signal out into space. The cry into the void, letting someone know you're alive and you exist, hoping for a reply and knowing it may never come, or when it does, it will be too late for you.

Nice, Anon!

And I liked Jack giving Steven a toy he'd get to help with -- classic.

thank you! :D Oh, Christmas is totally an excuse for Jack to play with toys as long as he still has someone to buy them for.

Lovely story.

I had to walk away from this before I commented, because it made me sad all over that CoE gave us spectacle and throw away characters instead of something as lovely and character driven as this introduction to Jack's family and back story.

Well done.

This is gorgeous, just beautiful. It's inevitable that it makes me regret COE all the more because I love this exploration of how Jack and Ianto each fit into the other's families. You struck just the right emotional note here.

And I love the signal out into space.
