Oh I was a horrific child in CCD. I knew too much (I read everything because I had books rather than friends), I asked awkward questions... Yeah, it was all about not causing trouble rather than actually learning anything.
That my mom went to a church where Sunday school was fun and their youth group went bowling and to theme parks and stuff only made me feel worse; I could see the greener pastures, but not get to them :)
It's always interesting to read people's reflections on their religious upbringings; I can always find some correspondence, and it makes me think about what I'm doing with my own child. Interesting entry.
Well... That's where the Protestants and Catholics differ in my opinion. Most of the Protestants dwell on the relationship with God/Jesus, and none of the modern Sunday school books would ever draw God like that. Lol It's very sad sometimes how the Catholic church seems to push people away with attitudes like that. I am not generalizing here, or at least, I'm not trying. Just saying that it is understandable why people have the attitudes you do.
